Capital.com group is a global CFD broker that offers +3,700 markets to 500,000+ registered clients. The brokerage offers extensive educational materials and user-friendly risk management tools. In this review, we reveal our findings when using Capital.com. We look at the broker’s online trading app, investing fees, demo account, login security, and more. Find out the pros and cons of trading with Capital.com.

About Capital.com

The online brokerage was founded in 2016. The group has upwards of 70,000 active monthly traders and operates in over 180 countries. More than $46,000,000 is invested each month through the broker’s platform and app, while the firm processes over $17,000,000 in monthly withdrawals.

Capital.com enables clients to trade CFDs and other derivatives on forex pairs, commodities, stocks, and indices. The firm uses analytics powered by artificial intelligence.

Capital.com group has separate entities which are individually regulated by the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC), the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Costumer reviews on platforms like Wiki, YouTube, Reddit, LinkedIn, Trustpilot, Glassdoor, and many others highlight the simple login process and the low fees.

Trading Platforms

Capital.com offers an intuitive trading platform. When we used the terminal, it was obvious there has been a focus on user experience from the development team.

The platform offers over 75 technical indicators, several graphs and charts, plus sophisticated drawing tools. Clients also benefit from stop-loss and take-profit orders, while negative balance is integrated for all user accounts. In addition, personalized watchlists and interactive price alerts help traders keep abreast of market developments. Up to six markets/tabs can be setup and maintained simultaneously.

While using the Capital.com platform, our experts particularly liked the ‘Discover’ function. Simply select ‘Discover’ from the left hand menu when you open the platform and you will be taken to the terminal shown below. Here, you can view the assets with the most volume and volatility, plus the biggest risers and fallers. If you click on an asset, a live price chart will then automatically open so you can conduct more detailed analysis.

Moving from the web-based application to mobile is also seamless, offering an extensive level of technical analysis without overwhelming the screen space with too much unnecessary data.

This simple, clean interface is an excellent gateway into trading CFDs, although experienced traders may want access to more detailed figures, charts and analysis tools. The kind offered by MetaTrader 4 (MT4), for example, which is also available through Capital.com. MT4 boasts a wide range of technical indicators, charting options and support for automated trading through expert advisors (EAs). Note MT4 is not available for clients in the UK.

The firm also allows users to integrate their accounts with TradingView and make the most of both trading environments.

Assets & Markets

There is a broad selection of markets and asset classes available at Capital.com, including:

Clients from the UK and Ireland can also make use of the spread betting service.

In addition, cryptocurrencie CFDs are available – thought not to retail clients in the UK. Customers can trade CFDs in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ripple (XRP), and Litecoin (LTC), among others.

Spreads & Commission

Capital.com offers some of the tightest spreads currently available in the market. For example, one of the most liquid currency pairs, EUR/USD, comes in at around 0.0007 pips. Crude oil spreads are 0.03, the UK100 0.9, and the US Tech 100 comes in at 1.5.

The broker charges no commissions or fees on deposits, withdrawals, real-time quotes, educational materials and charting tools. However, overnight fees apply.

The specifics of the fees/trade costs will depend on the market – full details can be found on the official site.

Leverage

Capital.com is fully compliant with the ESMA’s leverage requirements for retail traders. Leveraged trading opportunities vary by asset class:

These leverage rules are put in place to limit the risk a trader assumes – this is particularly important for new traders, as overextending your position without sufficient capital can be extremely risky.

Negative balance protection is also applied at Capital.com, so a trader cannot lose more than the amount they have in their account.

In addition, traders can apply for a professional account, but this requires proof of investing experience and sufficient capital. It should also be noted that professional clients may lose more than they deposit and they are generally not afforded the same level of regulatory protection.

Mobile Apps

Capital.com has both a web-based platform and an excellent mobile application (CFD trading app) with full functionality (developed for iOS and Android). The app is available to download directly from the App Store and Google Play. Users can scan the markets, create watchlists and enter buy and sell positions.

Capital.com has also developed a supplementary app called Investmate, which exists primarily as an educational platform. This is also available to download on both iOS and Android. Our experts found that this is a particularly good tool for beginners looking to get up to speed on popular day trading markets.

Regulation & Licensing

Capital.com has group entities authorized and regulated locally by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (ASIC), the Cyprus Securities & Exchange Commission (CySEC), and the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles (FSA).

The Capital.com entity regulated by the FCA (Capital.com UK) separates bank accounts for broker and client, according to CASS rules, adhering to industry standards.

The corporation has also been featured in several reputable publications (such as The Guardian and City AM).

Overall, this is a platform that traders can trust.

Additional Features

Capital.com use artificial intelligence to help clients, offering tailored news feeds rather than a ‘one size fits all approach’, spotting biases emerging within patterns of trades, as well as a whole host of other educational tools such as the Investmate app.

They also offer in-depth webinars, and access to an economic calendar so traders can anticipate key market-moving events. In addition, the broker hosts its own TV channel.

Account Types

Capital.com offers one retail account and a real stocks (Capital.com Invest) account. Both accounts have zero commissions.

The retail account allows trading on all assets, except for region-specific restrictions such as crypto CFDs that cannot be traded in the UK, while the stock brokerage account only has stocks available.

Benefits

The user education angle is one of the key differentiators between Capital.com and its competitors.

Utilizing artificial intelligence for smarter, actionable insights means traders have the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. This feature meets an enormously important user need: up-to-date, relevant news relating to their positions.

The simplicity and functionality of the user interface is another attractive feature, as well as the lack of commission charged on trades. Clients also benefit from execution speeds of 0.022 seconds.

Drawbacks

The initial deposit can be higher than rivals at $20 for retail clients using a card.

In addition, some traders may prefer simpler (or more traditional) brokerage services, without the extensive news feed or learning platforms.

Finally, the lack of welcome bonuses and sign-up offers may deter some budding investors.

Capital.com Trading Hours

The platform is available to use 24/7, although market opening times will differ depending on what asset class you are looking to trade.

You can find more information about relevant opening times on the website.

Customer Support

Capital.com are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on the phone, via an in-website chat window – logo located on the right-hand side, or through messenger. You can also email an inquiry using a web form.

So, there are several options available for users to get in touch with the support team. There is also an extensive FAQ section on the website covering many important points.

The full list of support details, including contact numbers, is available on the ‘Contact Us’ page of their website.

Security

Capital.com is a legitimate platform, with comprehensive levels of account and identity verification required to commence trading.

Their website processes personal data according to GDPR, which makes them compliant with the Data Protection rules.

Capital.com Verdict

Overall, Capital.com is an excellent choice for investors looking at using an online brokerage service. The company operates entities regulated by the FCA, CySEC, FSA and ASIC.
