Cons

• The educational tools are okay but not great. The ‘Opinion’ section needs updating more frequently while video tutorials covering market analysis and risk management would be valuable additions for beginners.
• While the Bloomberg TV news feed and economic calendar are valuable resources, the lack of research tools like Autochartist and Trading Central is a serious disadvantage for traders wanting support in identifying opportunities.
• SimpleFX operates with weak regulatory oversight, allowing it to offer high leverage, but meaning it faces less stringent supervision from authorities compared to brokers like IG which operate in tightly regulated jurisdictions.

This SimpleFX review examines the benefits and drawbacks of the broker for day traders, drawing on our direct use of the platform and comparisons with leading brokers.

Regulation & Trust

SimpleFX lacks the regulatory credentials, industry experience and reputation of the safest brokers.

The brokerage operates through two entities:

• 8tech Ltd is authorized by the Financial Services Commission (FSC) in Mauritius, a ‘red-tier’ regulator, offering leverage up to 1:100.
• SimpleFX Ltd is registered offshore in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, operating with limited regulatory scrutiny, offering leverage up to 1:1000.

While SimpleFX claims to prioritize client safety and promotes the use of segregated client accounts and negative balance protection, it lacks access to a compensation scheme in the event of liquidation. This raises concerns about the safety of funds, especially for day traders with larger account balances.

I’ve come to understand the importance of avoiding brokers lacking strict regulation, particularly when dealing with substantial amounts of capital.

Regulatory oversight plays a crucial role in ensuring the security of funds, although it’s essential to recognize that regulatory status alone does not guarantee complete protection.

Live Accounts

SimpleFX offers a single, multi-currency account that provides access to all available tradable assets and both platforms.

There is no minimum deposit, catering to beginners, and accounts can be opened in various currencies: EUR, USD, and GBP.

Unusually, crypto account currencies are also supported, making SimpleFX an attractive option if you want to deposit, trade and withdraw in digital tokens.

You can open up to three live accounts per currency, and there is no limit on the total number of accounts.

Minimum and maximum contract sizes are also flexible, ranging from 0.01 to 1000 lots, depending on the asset. The margin call is set at 50%, with a stop-out level at 30%.

Registering for a SimpleFX account was intuitive, although I had to complete the verification process before adding funds.

The process was easy, requiring me to upload photo ID and proof of address and wait for approval, which took less than 1 hour. After verification, I gained full access to the trading platform.

Demo Accounts

Registering for a demo account was quick and straightforward, requiring only my email address. After confirming my email, I could access the proprietary charting platform and trade with $10,000 or 1 BTC in virtual funds.

Pleasingly, I could easily create up to three demo accounts in different currencies and manually adjust leverage with just a few clicks, a welcome feature compared to other brokers that required me to contact support.

On the downside, the demo account remains active for only three months after registration. To reactivate it, you need to make a deposit.

Deposits & Withdrawals

SimpleFX offers a variety of swift and commission-free payment options, catering to diverse trader preferences. These options include popular cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dash, as well as e-wallets such as Skrill and Neteller, and credit card payments.

The range of deposit and withdrawal methods provided by SimpleFX is one of the most extensive I’ve encountered, although it does vary depending on the SimpleFX entity you’re registered with.

For instance, the non-regulated SimpleFX Ltd supports 42 cryptocurrencies and 22 currencies for account currencies, offering a choice of 36 cryptocurrencies and popular e-wallets for depositing and withdrawing.

On the other hand, the FSC-supervised 8tech Ltd supports only three currencies as a base currency and fewer depositing options, making for a less complete trading experience.

An interesting feature fairly unique to SimpleFX is the ability to buy, deposit, and transfer crypto via wallets, setting it apart from most brokers. For traders without cryptocurrencies, purchasing tokens via an exchange is a viable option.

Processing times for deposits typically take around 1 hour, with most solutions having no minimum or maximum deposit limits.

When it comes to withdrawals, like many brokers, SimpleFX requires that funds be withdrawn using the same method used for depositing. Wire transfer withdrawals may take 3-5 working days, while withdrawals via electronic payment systems, bank cards, and cryptocurrencies are processed within 24 hours. Again, these timelines are pretty standard.

Assets & Markets

SimpleFX offers access to a reasonable range of instruments for short-term trading, totalling over 220 across various asset classes including forex, indices, cryptocurrencies, stocks, and commodities.

Among this selection are:

• Currency pairs, covering major, minor, and exotic pairs
• Indices such as S&P500, DJIA, and FTSE100
• Global stocks like AAPL, AMZN, and GOOG
• Commodities such as natural gas and UK and US oil
• Precious metals including gold, silver, and copper
• Popular cryptos like Bitcoin, plus 4 new additions in 2024

Yet while SimpleFX provides a wide range of assets, it is not as extensive as many competitors. For instance, RoboForex offers over 8,400 stock and ETF CFDs sourced from leading global exchanges, offering a significantly broader selection.

Additionally, SimpleFX lacks support for spread betting, a feature valued by myself and other traders, notably in the UK, for its tax advantages.

On the positive side, accessing the complete range of instruments is intuitively located and quickly searchable on the web platform. SimpleFX even conveniently separates individual stocks from various global markets such as Brazilian, French, German, Japanese, Swedish, Turkish, UK, and US markets.

Fees & Costs

SimpleFX operates as a Straight-Through Processing (STP) broker with no dealing desk. The only costs incurred are for spreads and swaps (avoidable if you day trade), plus a single inactivity fee of 3% (minimum $10) applicable to users who deposit and withdraw without executing any trades.

Trading with SimpleFX is commission-free, which will suit many beginners, with spreads typically averaging 1.3 for major indices like the FTSE 100, 0.9 for EUR/USD pairs, and approximately 0.17 pips for gold. These fees are competitive when compared to similar brokers, though they trail the cheapest brokers we’ve tested.

There are also no fees for opening an account, making deposits, or processing withdrawals. However, there could be charges associated with withdrawing funds to an e-wallet.

Weighing the negatives, advanced day traders may be disappointed by the lack of an Electronic Communication Network (ECN) account, available at leading brokers like Pepperstone, and providing raw spreads with fixed commissions.

Platforms & Tools

Traders get access to two robust platforms: MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and the broker’s proprietary WebTrader.

Both platforms offer an extensive array of tools for implementing day trading strategies, analyzing market movements, and managing accounts.

MetaTrader 4

MT4 – renowned as a highly popular online trading platform – boasts over 30 built-in technical indicators, one-click trading, automated trading via expert advisors, customizable charting layouts, copy trading functionality, and access to MQL4 programming support.

Available as a desktop application, web browser, and mobile app on both iOS and Android devices, MT4 provides traders with flexibility and accessibility across various devices. That said, I find the interface increasingly outdated and better suited to experienced traders.

Also, unlike Hantec Markets, SimpleFX lacks support for MT4’s Multi-Account Manager (MAM) feature, which streamlines oversight and operation of multiple accounts from a single interface.

WebTrader

SimpleFX’s WebTrader, the broker’s own platform, stands out for its accessibility via a web browser, eliminating the need for software downloads and configurations.

Powered by TradingView, it offers a user-friendly interface suitable for traders of all levels, live technical support, and quick trading options.

Through the trade page, I have access to a wide range of technical analysis tools, enabling me to pinpoint entry and exit points through drawings and various technical indicators.

With nine timeframes, 104 indicators, 75+ graphical objects, and five chart types, the platform offers competitive tools for technical analysis – ideal for day traders.

SimpleFX’s intuitive web platform design will be particularly beneficial to novice traders. Navigating through various trading instruments and executing trades is smooth and efficient, allowing me to react quickly to market movements.

The lack of research tools at SimpleFX is disappointing, depriving aspiring traders of tools to help identify short-term trading opportunities.

Unlike category leaders such as IG, which typically provide trading signals from third-parties such as Trading Central, Autochartist, or PIA-First, SimpleFX does not offer any signals.

Also, there is no sentiment indicator within the platform, nor does the broker provide daily or weekly market analysis. Moreover, updating the blog content more frequently, particularly the ‘Opinion’ section, would enhance the overall experience for users.

As a result, I’ve had to rely on external tools to stay informed about developments relevant to my trading strategies and interests – making for an incomplete and frustrating experience.

Looking at the positives, I do appreciate the live Bloomberg TV news feed and the economic calendar, which provide valuable insights into significant global economic events and indicators.

Additionally, the trading calculator has proved to be useful as it allows me to estimate potential profits, losses, and trading costs across different financial instruments.

Education

SimpleFX offers a community Discord server and a blog to cater to traders’ educational needs:

• The Discord server acts as a central hub for traders to stay updated on SimpleFX updates, exchange ideas, make requests, and seek assistance from fellow traders.
• The blog serves as a valuable resource for tutorials, updates, opinion pieces, and more. The Trading Academy section, in particular, provides valuable insights for novice traders looking to explore various asset classes and develop trading strategies.

I’ve also found SimpleFX’s integration of the help section into the WebTrader platform to be user-friendly. It allows me to access FAQs, YouTube-hosted video tutorials, a trading glossary, and step-by-step guides to the platform seamlessly. Moreover, live chat support is easily accessible with just a click.

Still, there is room for improvement. SimpleFX could enhance its offerings by expanding its range of self-created video content, especially focusing on fundamental analysis.

This would provide better support for beginners in understanding trading essentials, risk management, and effective market analysis.

Customer Support

SimpleFX offers a range of customer service options, including an FAQ page, email support, a Discord forum, and engagement on major social networks.

While the 24/5 live customer support chat (offered in English only) has been invaluable for immediate assistance, I’ve noticed a lack of a phone number for either of SimpleFX’s offices on their website, and there is no contact form available to create a support ticket.

Nevertheless, in my interactions with SimpleFX’s customer support team, I’ve found them to be responsive and helpful. Whenever I’ve had inquiries or encountered issues, I’ve been able to reach out to their support team through various channels, including email and live chat.

Ultimately, their knowledgeable staff have provided timely assistance, effectively resolving my queries and ensuring a smooth trading experience.

Should You Trade With SimpleFX?

SimpleFX offers a diverse range of assets for speculation through both MT4 and its own intuitive platform. It boasts competitive trading conditions, including tight spreads, commission-free trading, and high-leverage options up to 1:1000.

Additionally, SimpleFX provides valuable resources such as a trading calculator, economic calendar, and responsive customer service. The platform also stands out by offering a substantial deposit bonus of $2,500 and supports numerous crypto and fiat payment methods.

These features collectively make SimpleFX an appealing choice for traders of all levels. However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that SimpleFX operates with limited regulation, necessitating traders to carefully consider the associated risks before investing capital.

Additionally, robust encryption measures and the availability of two-factor authentication (2FA) further enhance the security of client accounts.

Is SimpleFX A Regulated Broker?

That said, specific fees can vary depending on the type of asset being traded and market conditions.

Is SimpleFX A Good Broker For Day Trading?

SimpleFX is an average broker for day trading. It offers competitive fees, high leverage, various tradable assets, and sophisticated charting and algo trading tools through the MT4 platform. The broker also allows scalping and hedging.

However, there is no raw spread account and limited rebates for highly active traders. SimpleFX also doesn’t provide information about execution speeds and its research tools still fall way behind the best brokers for day trading.
