IG has relaunched crypto trading for retail investors in the UK, offering over 55 digital tokens, including major coins like bitcoin, ethereum and ripple.

Key Takeaways

  • IG is the first company listed on the London Stock Exchange to offer cryptos to retail investors in the UK with FCA licensing.
  • Cryptos can be traded around the clock with a minimum investment of £1 and fees from 1.49% per trade.
  • Cryptos are available on IG’s suite of software, including desktop and mobile apps via trading and investment accounts.

Investing in cryptos, even through an FCA-regulated broker, remains high-risk – you could lose any capital invested.

IG Secures An FCA Crypto Asset License

IG obtained a crypto asset license from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority. This enables it to offer in-scope crypto asset services to retail traders. Users can buy, sell, store and analyze crypto markets on IG’s trading platforms.

The move is significant for active traders and crypto investors looking for access to digital currencies alongside traditional financial markets. Cryptos can be traded and exchanged alongside the broker’s other 17,000+ instruments, including UK stocks, major indices like the FTSE, forex, commodities and ETFs.

When you open IG’s web platform, ‘Cryptocurrency’ can be found from the search bar in the left-hand side and added to the workspace area.
