Currency Conversion Cost Calculator

If your trading account is in a different currency from your bank account, you may pay a fee every time you deposit or withdraw. This calculator shows what those conversions could cost you each year, and lists brokers that let you hold an account in your own currency so you can avoid the fee altogether.

Currency Conversion Cost Calculator

What converting your money costs, and brokers with accounts in your currency.

Exchange rates: ECB reference rates of 28 Oct 2026. Results are estimates for information only, not financial advice. Trading on leverage carries a high risk of losing money.

    How To Use The Calculator

    1. Your currency: the currency of your bank account. It is set to your local currency where possible.
    2. Trading account currency: the currency your broker account is in.
    3. Money moved per year: the total of your deposits and withdrawals in a year, in your currency.
    4. Conversion fee: the percentage the broker or your bank charges per conversion. If you don’t know it, 0.5% to 1% is typical.

The result shows your conversion cost per year, the cost per 1,000 converted, and the total over five years. If both currencies are the same, there is no conversion cost.

Brokers With Accounts In Your Currency

Below the result, the calculator lists the best-rated brokers that accept traders from your country and offer accounts in your currency, with their minimum deposit. Trading through one of them usually means no conversion fee on deposits and withdrawals.

You can also see our lists of brokers with different trading account currencies.

The Hidden Cost Of A Foreign-Currency Account

Many brokers only offer accounts in US dollars, euros or pounds. If you live in Sweden, Poland, South Africa or many other countries, your deposits and withdrawals are converted, usually at a rate 0.5% to 1% worse than the market rate. Because the fee is built into the exchange rate, it is easy to miss.

Some brokers also convert the profit or loss of every trade in a foreign currency into your account currency. That is a separate cost and not included in this calculator.

    Example

You deposit and withdraw a total of 100,000 SEK a year into a US dollar account, and the broker charges 0.75% per conversion. That costs you 750 SEK a year, or 3,750 SEK over five years, before you have made a single trade.
